HISTORY

Service industries are the major driving force of the world economy, with one-quarter of cross-border trade already in services. Taiwan has developed into a service-oriented economy, with the services sector contributing more than 70% of the GDP in 2007 and employing 58.49% of the working population in 2006, more than 36.02% for industry sector. In external trade, Taiwan's exports of services now exceed than of its domestic manufactures.

The Taiwan Coalition of Service Industries was founded in 2007 by the General Chamber of Commence of ROC. It is the Chamber's service policy think tank. With representatives from more than 30 service sectors, the TWCSI is the major private sector voice for Taiwan's service industries.
