CSI Supports ABAC for New Service Agenda2015-02-12
MEDIA RELEASE 4 February 2015
Services Industry Coalitions support APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) call for a new services agenda in APEC.
Regional services stakeholders are engaging in a series of dialogues in 2015 designed to help shape a new Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) services agenda, starting with a Senior Officials-level Public-Private Dialogue on Services organised by the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) and the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC) on 3 February 2015 in Clark Freeport Zone, the Philippines.
Services are now at the centre of a transformation in the way business conducts trade and investment and drives economic integration. ABAC has therefore called for APEC Leaders and Ministers to develop and promote a new services agenda.
During 2015, in support of ABAC’s initiative, the organisations listed below will work together with the Philippines Services Coalition and other services champions in the region to help identify concrete actions which could have meaningful impact in growing the regional services economy. We support the idea of a region-wide meeting of services industry coalitions in August 2015.
Services account on average for over 60% of GDP and employment in the APEC region and account for 39% of trade in value-added.
